AMERICA'S ANATOMY

For my Introduction to Mass Media class, I basically have to dissect a magazine from front to back. I was browsing the magazine rack this evening, and low and behold I came across something quite astonishing. First comes LOST: The Official Magazine, then 24 the Magazine, and now this:

(SOURCE: http://abc.go.com)

It's genius, really. Ecstatic fans will flock to their magazine racks to pay the [steep] price of $6.99 for their latest Grey's dirt. Instead, they'll find themselves with a slim, 66-page advertisement and a half-boner. Pity. The magazine will be dead within a year, but if you multiply the price of the magazine X the amount of diehard fans, there are big bucks to be made.

Nothing surprises me anymore.

Preliminaries

Generally it takes some sort of feeling/passion to drive me to write anything. Or a deadline, like the night before something huge is due. As of right this minute, nothing strikes me as b**gworthy, but there shall soon be some sort of writing coming.

It is difficult to refrain from certain topics, for fear that this may become merely a dumping zone for anything related to said topic. So for this reason it is really hard to come up with something off the top of my head, I'll most likely have to run across a stimulus for inspiration.

That, or reviewing porn sites. Talking about politics? OK, maybe only a little.

Who knows.

Ebay till I die

Ebay is full of wonderful things! Love it. Where else can I find a bucket full of eggs with a wire handle? Uh, nowhere! So, in honor of this bizarre world, the one we call: Ebay. I am going to dig and post some of the weird findings I stumble across. (commentary isn't necessary, I'm sure you can fill in the blanks)

Insta Emo Kit is a joke, of course it is, its more or less making fun of the whole emo thing ( i still don't know what emo means, don't we all have emotions?)
Amazing to see a reporter present satire as the truth... i mean, who does that?

CEREBRA[W]L

This will hopefully make a better canvas for expression than having it remain sheltered within my skull.

Metal

聖飢魔II or Seikima -II or End of the Century!
The Wikipeida article: HERE
according to Wiki, in a nutshell, they were another "hell-band" but that doesn't matter - hell, um, if hell looks like this, well... how friggin awesome is that. They formed in the early 80's disbanded in the late 90's - this video i guess was taken sometime in the mid 90's. I watched the video twice and already consider myself a fateful follower to the crown price of darkness... Damian Hamada and his demon friends. With out further ado, the video... enjoy!

The Reunion Show

greed |grēd| noun intense and selfish desire for something, esp. wealth, power, or food.
Yes, Believe it or not but the entertainment industry is fueled by greed. Sometimes an actor wants to relive the glory days or sometimes they want the money they spent on silk pajamas and wooden rocking horses back. Either way they are motivated by greed and their own self ego. Case in point:
  • Terminator 3 (2003) Schwarzenegger takes on a time traveling babe all the while covered head to toe in leather.
  • Rocky Balboa (2006) and John Rambo (2008) Remember when Sylvester Stallone, or Sly, did cool movies like this.
  • Live Free or Die Hard (2007) Bruce Willis plying the one man army facing off against computer hackers. Evidence proving all you need is a name to sell a movie.
Say... Weren't these guys involved in some kind of project years back?

(Combined these men are 170 years old.)

  • Indiana Jones IV (2008) Harrison Ford was born in 1942, right around the time of the 2nd world war.
  • The Re-Teaming of Van Halen (?)
You have to wonder: how are these movies getting made, and why are they getting made now as opposed to, gee, i don't know a year or two after the last sequel? Than I think about it and it becomes pretty clear. Arnold, Sly, Ford and Bruce are capitalizing on the downfall of the movie. Crap is being made thus movie goers are seeing crap therefore expectations are low creating the prefect time to introduce an old face.

The Current Box Office Standings ending on feb. 19th. With average critic rating out of 100%: (Taken From rottentomatoes.com)

10 4 The Messengers 3 $3.8M $31.1M $2k 2183 ROTTEN: 12%% 12%

Point is, unless the industry stops making crap and maybe decides to take a chance with an independent movie, all we can do is look forward to more and more sequels to 70 & 80's action movies.
